Deep within my core, an unyielding passion blazes to uplift and inspire the forthcoming generation. My aspiration is for them to not only identify the leadership opportunities that come their way but to grasp them with both hands and hold them close to their hearts. These moments are not mere instances but valuable lessons, and letting them merely fade away would be an oversight. Every chance, every situation, every challenge is a stepping stone to greatness, and I fervently wish for them to realize its immense value and potential.
In the vast tapestry of life, college is but a single, pivotal thread, a phase where you're sculpted not just by lessons from textbooks, but by the experiences you embrace. Understand this:
Every challenge you face,
Every group project you lead,
Every event you organise…
is a golden opportunity to mold your leadership muscles.
By stepping into leadership roles now, you're not just guiding others, but charting a path for your own future. Seize these moments, for they aren't mere roles or titles, but the anvils upon which your character, resilience, and vision are forged. You have within you the spark to inspire, the power to influence, and the potential to lead. Ignite that spark, embrace that power, and realize that potential. The world awaits your leadership. Embrace it now, and watch as doors of opportunity swing wide open in the future.
I was watching a Netflix series set in northern India, a vivid representation of its evolving lifestyle. A scene etched in my mind: mark sheets handed out in a senior class. There’s this perpetual class topper a boy – the "Class Leader." Enter Jyotsna, the newcomer to the school with little prep time for exams due to her late joining. Despite her plea for a grace period, the teacher denies. Yet, when results were out, she emerges the victor. In a gripping moment, she receives the badge and asks the teacher for a couple of minutes to say something to the class.
She says emphasising the value of this leadership badge, “ I feel honoured to have received this badge today, and I’ll prove to be worthy of this badge. I hope and I wish that this “LEADERSHIP” opportunity given to me would help me fulfil my dreams of becoming a District Collector one day. Thank you”.
But it's the backbencher's realisation that resonates: “I didn’t know this badge had that much value.”
Recently I conducted a “Next Gen Leadership Seminar” for Practical EduSkill College Students in Pune. Approximately 80 of them along with a couple of faculty including the Academic Manager Mrs Sunita Pandita attended the session. The session was highly interactive and interesting, consisting of inputs and group activities.
I observed a spectrum of ambition among the college attendees. Majority of them grabbed the seminar's essence, eager to grow and enrich themselves, while a few of them don’t know may have drifted, uncertain of their dreams, not able to grab the seminar's true value. It doesn’t matter as long as they rub shoulders with others they will be impacted in the days to come.
I want to leave each one of you with this question :
Students, As tomorrow's leader, are you harnessing every opportunity propelling you toward your dreams? Or are you oblivious to its worth?
Reflect on this.
“THINKING - Genuine introspection seems to be a diminishing art.”
